Opening School Facilities is a project funded by the Department for Education to enable schools to stay open outside of the normal school hours. The project was designed in response to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on activity levels amongst children and young people.

Funding was awarded in the spring and summer of 2021 for targeted schools to open their facilities to be used by community clubs as well as to develop new afterschool clubs for their students to access. Schools that were targeted for this funding were those with high percentages of free school meals to ensure young people from all backgrounds have opportunities to take part in physical activity.

30 schools across the county accessed this funding and have opened their facilities for the use of the local community. If you would like to find out more about using the facilities available, please click the button below.
